"On Eagles Wings"

Poem for Barb
adapted by Pat Bailey

God looked around his garden
And He found an empty place
He then looked down upon
This Earth and saw Barb's tired face

He put his arms around her
And lifted her to rest
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best

He knew Barb was in pain
He knew that she would never
Get well on earth again
So He closed her weary eyelids
And whispered "Peace Be Thine"
And then he took a yellow rose to Heaven
With hands so gentle and so kind

It broke our hearts to lose her
But she did not go alone
For part of us went with her
The day God called her home.

"On Eagles Wings"
written by Michael Joncas
based on Psalm 91

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
Who abide in the shadow for life
Say to the Lord: *My refuge, my rock
In whom I trust*

Chorus: And He will raise you up on eagles wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
And famine will bring you no fear:
Under His wings your refuge
His faithfulness your shield

Chorus: And He will raise you up on eagles wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand.

You need not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by day
Though thousands fall about you
Near you it shall not come

Chorus: And He will raise you up on eagles wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand.

For to His angels He*s given a command
To guard you in all of your ways
Upon their hands they will bear you up
Lest you dash your foot against a stone

Chorus: And He will raise you up on eagles wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand.

Coda: And hold you, hold you in the palm of His hand
